Southern Future Guide

Write for us

Southern Future Guide welcomes clear, original pitches about regional futures, changing places and the choices that shape shared life in the South. Send proposals through the Contact page.

What we welcome

We are interested in explanatory essays, thoughtful comparisons, historical context and practical ways to frame questions about change. Strong pitches make room for the South’s variety and do not treat one place or experience as representative of all the others.

Make the pitch specific

Tell us the central question, your proposed angle, why it matters to general readers and what the piece would help them understand. A focused outline and a brief note about relevant experience are useful; credentials are not a requirement. Please identify any interests or relationships readers should know about.

Original work and review

Pitches should be original and clearly distinguish established facts, interpretation and possibilities. We do not accept work that depends on unsupported prediction, disguised promotion or claims of expertise that cannot be substantiated. A proposal is not a commission; we will discuss scope and terms before any work is agreed.

How to submit

Use the Contact page and select the editorial question option, then include your pitch in the message. Please do not send a complete unsolicited article unless we have requested it.

Our point of view

The future is a question we can share

Southern Future Guide treats the future not as a prediction, but as a set of possibilities worth examining. We make room for different places, perspectives and choices.
